Kia Levey-Burden

Kia Levey-Burden is the Founder and President of Launch Consulting, LLC. Through Launch Kia works to inspire, equip and encourage others to be powerful leaders and advocates working in service of values that facilitate community good.  Kia is a passionate leader and dedicated advocate herself working to raise hard issues we face as a society and encouraging collaborative solutions. She is deeply committed to igniting passions and unleashing the power of people who are often silenced and ignored. Prior to starting Launch, Kia worked as the project director of the New Haven Mental Health Outreach for MotherS (MOMS) Partnership, Kia focused on building the capacity of individuals, communities and organizations to better respond to the challenges, needs and opportunities that exist for mothers and children ( and all families units) who need support managing the challenges of mental illness and trauma that are magnified by poverty and racism . Kia has also served in a variety of capacities in the philanthropic, service and higher education sectors both as professional and as a volunteer.

As a mother of an 11 year-old son, Kia has a unique interest in quality educational opportunities for children of color who face inadequate access to resources and barriers created by institutional bias and racism. Kia continues to grow by expanding her own knowledge and capacity by searching for new opportunities to be a resource to her community through the integration of strategies and knowledge from governance, community , and private sectors in order to create a better community for all.

Kia earned an MSW from the University of Connecticut and a B.A. in Communication from Central Connecticut State University.
