This is supposed to be the time of our lives
Maturing as young adults
Venturing out into the world to see what’s beyond the horizon
Experiencing new things
Facing the consequences that comes from our own foolish actions
Learning from our mistakes because
WE ARE YOUNG
Our age doesn’t define us at all times but this time it does
We have been blinded
Not only have we been blinded by the world due to a pandemic
But we have been blinded by those we thought have cared about us the most
We have been blinded by the education system
Blinded by our educators
Blinded by administration
Blinded by acceptance offices
Even blinded by state administered tests
I’m not saying we are blinded for the fun of it
I’m saying the world is being blind towards how much this drastic change has affected millennials
As millennials this new decade was supposed to be one where we stand out the most
But instead the start of this decade due to the recent pandemic has offered us nothing but setbacks
Graduations held online rather than in person for commending one for succeeding and passing on from high school
Prom being cancelled and not being able to celebrate the year with our peers
And worst of all
SAT’s being pushed back later in the year
SAT’s is what determines our placement at a college for the next 4 years of our lives
The delay of the standardized test has not only caused my peers and I great stress
But it has also severely worried us about our futures

Super scoring is a must but because of the new dates for the test being administered this may not even be an option anymore
Schools stating that they aren’t requiring SAT scores are not making things better either
What if I’m not a straight A student
What if I didn’t get enough community service hours before the shutdown occurred
Why are we educational wise being punished for something that isn’t out fault
My future is at risk because of a worldwide pandemic that I had no control over
My education isn’t in my own hands anymore
Corona has taken over Not only has it taken over my life socially
But it has also taken over mentally, physically, and educationally
I and other youth have been shut out and blinded by the rest of the world
This is affecting our lives more than you can imagine
Please stay inside
Please stay safe
Please stay healthy
So that those my age and I can continue shaping our lives for the future
